Community Outreach Interests

My interests lie in the area of assisting communities with the sustainable planning and development of tourism resources. I have experience accessing , analyzing and evaluating the nature base assets and culture tourism in rural communities.I am especially interested in working with different stakeholder group in tourism_dependent counties on their attitude towards impact of tourism and second home development as well as their attachment to the community.

Research Interests

  • Impact of tourism and second home development on community life;

  • Importance of sustainable actions in the future success of community's tourism economy;

  • Impacts of climate ans weather on property valuation/use and recreational choices;

  • Support for future tourism development;

  • Community attachment.

I have also served as Principle Investigator on a project through the NC sea Grant program regarding oil spill and tourism businesses, and as Co-Principle Investigator on another NC Grant research on tourism impact and sustainability.
