The design program emphasizes application of state of the art software, digitizing, and product realization/development equipment. In addition, there are many opportunities to gain work experience such as part-time and temporary jobs and co-op or internship positions.

Design Graduate Opportunities:
- Work as design professionals or as members of a design team
- Progress to supervise a design team or manage a design project
- Meet nationally recognized standards in demonstrating knowledge and skills in applying design practices and drafting concepts to solve a broad and varied range of design problems
The design program offers two concentration options:
Architectural Technology
A program that prepares individuals to assist architects in developing plans and related documentation and in performing architectural office services. It includes instruction in the following areas:
- Architectural drafting
- Computer-assisted drafting and design
- Construction methods and materials
- Environmental systems
- Building codes and standards
- Structural principles
- Cost estimation
- Planning documentation
- Visual communication skills
- Display production
- Architectural office management
Mechanical Technology
Mechanical Technology prepares individuals to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills in support of engineers engaged in the design and development phases of a wide variety of projects involving mechanical systems. The program includes instruction in the following areas:
- Principles of mechanics
- Applications to specific engineering systems
- Design testing procedures
- Prototype and operational testing and inspection procedures
- Manufacturing system-testing procedures
- Test equipment operation and maintenance
- Report preparation
