John Durham
Executive director of university communications
John is the chief
communications officer for the university and serves as the university’s
spokesperson. He oversees ECU’s central communications, public
relations, media relations, marketing and publications.
Doug Boyd

Doug worked two years at the Valdosta (Ga.) Daily Times, a 20,000-circulation
daily, before joining our staff in 1994.
Doug has a bachelor’s degree in English literature with a minor in
journalism from N.C. State University in Raleigh and a master’s in
English with a concentration in technical and professional communication
from ECU.
Crystal Baity
Information specialist

of Nursing and College of Allied Health Sciences
Crystal worked nine years as a writer at three newspapers in North
Carolina including the High Point Enterprise, a 32,000-circulation
daily in High Point. She served 10 years as executive director of
the Martin County Tourism Development Authority in Williamston, N.C.,
working in project development, public relations, marketing and visitor
services before joining our staff in 2004.
Crystal
has a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Cliff Hollis
Photographer
Responsibilities: News and marketing photography.
Cliff has more than 20 years of experience as a photojournalist and
freelance photographer. He has worked at four newspapers and held
the position of chief photographer at the Greenville Daily Reflector,
a 20,000-circulation daily. He joined our staff in 2000.
Cliff has an associate’s degree in photojournalism from Randolph Technical
College, Asheboro, N.C.
