Our Mission To be the nexus for ECU students, alumni, and employers by providing for all aspects of career exploration and employment in a manner supportive of the overall mission of the University. The Career Center's primary purpose is to assist and guide students in their career search. It develops partnerships with employers by initiating and facilitating opportunities in public, private, governmental, and corporate sectors. Its purpose is to help students understand how to manage their careers and how to effectively market themselves to achieve their potential.

Our Goals
- Improve marketing techniques to increase student awareness and participation in all career center offerings.
- Continue to expand the regional and national reputation of the ECU Career Center.
- Collaborate and partner with faculty, employers, and others to enhance the student experience.
- Continue to develop and implement strategies to address career needs of distance education students.
- Utilize technical resources to support and enhance our marketing efforts, assessment, core career exploration services, and virtual career center.
Our Major Accomplishments for 05-06
- The Career Center served 16,977 students and alumni this academic year; a 30% increase over last year. TCC staff conducted 2,886 individual advising/counseling appointments with students and alumni and presented 414 professional seminars, classroom presentations, and special programs.
- Recruiters from 450 organizations and approximately 4,000 students participated in on-campus career fairs.
- 495 students participated in the HIRED mock interview program; a 76% increase from last year. 115 students registered for the Career Ready (Readiness) institute; an increase of 140% from last year.
- 1093 new employers were added to the eRecruting database; a 72% increase over last year.
- Technology additions include an online chat, new resume writing, and interviewing capabilities, and numerous technical credentials that make us a leader in the field.
- Staff presented at or chaired many national, regional and state career related conferences.
