Career Center Staff
Jim McAtee Jim McAtee
MBA, East Carolina University
Director/Liaison for the College of Fine Arts and Communication
Jim has over twelve years of experience in the employment services business including eight years in university career services and four years in employment consulting and management. He has served as President and Vice President of the North Carolina Cooperative Education Association (NCCEA), as a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Surry County Personnel Association (SCPA), as well as other organizations. Professional organizations include NCACE, SoACE, and NACE. Also, Jim and his dog Nemo are members of the Delta Society and participate in volunteer animal assisted therapy for children.
Brian Newton Brian Newton
Associate Director/Liaison to the School of Allied Health Sciences, School of Nursing, and College of Health & Human Performance and The College of Arts & Sciences
At the University of South Carolina, Brian earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's of education in student personnel services. He has over sixteen years of experience in career services and experiential education. Brian has assisted thousands of college graduates in making their transition from college to the world of work. Prior to arriving at ECU, he was the director of career services and experiential education at Barton College in Wilson, NC.
Catrina Davis Catrina Davis
Assistant Director/Liaison for the College of Education & Thomas Harriot College (Science Departments)
Catrina is a native of Chicago, and she joined the ECU family after earning both a Bachelor's degree in Business and a Master's degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University. She has been employed with East Carolina for nine years and has held previous positions on campus; in Campus Living she served as a Residence Hall Coordinator as well as in the Department of Human Resources where she served as the Staff Training and Development Specialist.

Carol has spent fifteen years working with students at East Carolina University in roles as educator, organizational advisor, program development specialist, and mentor as well as previously serving the university as the Director of Marketing for the S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series, Family Fare Series, and ECU Arts Smart Series, which she founded and developed. She created the ECU Office of Co-Curricular Programs and Cultural Outreach which was recognized in 2007 with an award for Collaboration by the Association of College Unions International. Prior to working at ECU, she taught as adjunct faculty at the University of Alabama and Auburn University and worked professionally in regional theatre where she developed educational programs and oversaw audience development. She is a member of NACE and is pleased to have the opportunity to assist students in their efforts to find meaningful and fulfilling work in fields or industries for which they have trained. She concurs with the philosophy that “Mondays are a brutal way to spend 1/7 of your life if you don’t like your job.”
Cathy Renae Moore Cathy Moore
Associate Director/Liaison for the College of Technology & Computer Science
Cathy comes to ECU with 12 years of experience in higher education – nearly 10 of which have been in career services. Before coming to ECU, Cathy served as director of an education center for Lakeland College, which enrolled approximately 500 students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She developed and delivered various career workshops and seminars and designed a career development class for a graduate-level counseling program that was adopted at all seven Lakeland College centers throughout the state of Wisconsin. She has worked with institutions including Old Dominion University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and University of Oklahoma. She also worked for several years with the US military education services in Europe and the Middle East. Cathy has a BA degree in Communications, a BA degree in Psychology, a M.Ed. degree in Higher Education Administration, and is currently working on her PhD in Human Services. Cathy is a certified Career Development Facilitator and a certified True Colors Basic Awareness facilitator.
