H.I.R.E.D
Helping Individuals Reach Employment Destinations
Getting your Students Involved
BRIEF PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The H.I.R.E.D program is a partnership between The Career Center, local community volunteers, business professionals, and you. The program offers students the chance to practice their interviewing skills through a mock interview. Program volunteers who conduct the interviews and offer feedback take on the role of a manager in any company/industry that interests the students, thereby making the experience more relevant to the student.
STEPS TO GET INVOLVED
Follow these three easy steps at the beginning of the semester to get your students involved in the H.I.R.E.D program:
Step 1: Incorporate the H.I.R.E.D program into your syllabus and/or course requirements if you wish.
Step 2: Email the Pirate IDs of all students who will be participating in the program to Jim McAtee, Assistant Director (mcateej@ecu.edu). Students’ Pirate IDs are needed to allow them to access the online scheduling system.
Step 3: Contact the Career Center liaison to your college or school to schedule a class presentation. The presentation will inform students how to utilize the online scheduling system, offer interviewing tips, and cover any career related topic you choose.
At the end of each semester, you will receive a report from The Career Center of all your students who participated in the program.
