How parents can help

Probably the most significant thing you could do to help your child is to encourage him/her to come to The Career Center and take advantage of the services we offer. Our services include: on-campus recruiting, job fairs, career assessment, cutting edge research tools in our office and on the Internet, workshops on resume writing, job interviewing, and the job search process, and individual attention through one-on-one sessions with a trained Career Coordinator. There is no reason why your child should graduate without a job in hand. Let us help you make sure that happens!

Research has clearly shown that students who obtain work experience while in school are enriched by that process, identify a career direction more quickly, and have an easier time obtaining employment upon graduation. The Career Center would like to encourage parents to help us develop Internships, Cooperative Education opportunities (COOPs), and part-time and full-time jobs by providing us with contact information (names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, etc.) for those individuals who make hiring decisions at your place of employment.

For more information, contact Jane Rahm at (252)328-6050 or by e-mailing her at rahmj@ecu.edu.
