So you've decided it's time to get started on your job search and you want
to know what to do. Great! We can help. Students who turn to The Career Center
for help in their career search spend less time getting focused on an
appropriate career, obtain jobs before graduation, and earn higher salaries
than students who do not use our services. You made the right choice!
First, register with The Career Center. We can't help you if we don't know you
want help. Registering is as simple as filling out your profile on our on-line recruiting system named Career Connections. By completing your profile, you will be able to access our online database of jobs (over 1700
full and part-time positions), Internships, and Coop listings on Career Connections.
On this website. you will also find a listing of all our workshops, career
fairs, Employer Information sessions, and all the activities we provide to
assist you.
Once you have a logon you will want to create and post a resume so that employers
will be able to consider you. Go to the resume section of this website and use our
online resume writing software to produce one. Then post the Word version to Career Connections.
You may also want to check out our Job Interviewing section and the Virtual Handout Cart where
more great job search tools are available.
On Career Connections, you
can peruse the opportunities available, sign up for jobs, or sign up for
on-campus interviews. Employers can review résumés and
preselect students whom they want to meet with. Last year, there were over
1200 interviews by recruiters.
Each College at the university has a Career Coach assigned to assist students with their
job search process. Feel free to call our office at (252)328-6050 and make an appointment
to sit down one-on-one with a Career Coach. Most of our Career Coaches have satellite offices on campus.
Give us a call to find out where and when. If you are a Distance Learning student, Coordinators will be
happy to help you by phone and email as well.
