Hispanic Heritage Month is observed nationally from September 15-October 15. The poster for this month is also available in English.
GLBT Month was observed for the first time at ECU in September 2008 with events leading up to the NC Pride Parade and Festival. This year, the campus is planning its observance for October 2009.
Native American Heritage Month is observed nationally in November. The poster for this month is also available featuring artwork from a local artist.
Social Justice Month was observed for the first time at ECU in January 2009 with keynote speaker, Charles Cobb. The month also included the previously established and observed MLK Day of Service.
ECU joins the national observance of
African American Heritage Month in February. The 2009 poster featured artwork from Maurice Moore, an art major at ECU.
Women's Heritage Month is observed nationally in March. The poster for this month features artwork from Susan Luddeke who teaches in ECU's School of Art.
In April, ECU observes Asian/Asian American Heritage Month. This year's keynote speaker was Shawn Wong, author and anthologist.
