Through our heart institute, we bring the expertise, experience and outstanding skills of our faculty physicians to caring for every patient. The newest technology and approaches allow us to diagnose and treat heart and circulatory system conditions at all stages. We also provide exceptional heart care for infants and children.
Heart and vascular care begins with your first appointment and continues through diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Because we are committed to early diagnosis and treatment, patients can often avoid the serious consequences of untreated disease. When surgery is needed, we use minimally invasive procedures as appropriate, reducing recovery time and speeding healing. We are proud to be among the pioneers of robotic heart surgery for mitral valve repair.
The East Carolina Heart Institute is a dynamic partnership that brings together the faculty of East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine with the exceptional facilities of Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The institute has two locations. The East Carolina Heart Institute at ECU offers heart and circulatory patient appointments, consultations, noninvasive evaluations such as stress tests, electrophysiology studies and imaging in a central location. Our patients needing invasive treatments or surgery are seen at the East Carolina Heart Institute at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, a 120-bed heart hospital, with 11 on-site catheterization areas, six operating rooms and rehabilitation care.

We are near the Brody School of Medicine and behind Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The East Carolina Heart Institute at Pitt County Memorial Hospital is a separate location on Main Boulevard from Moye Boulevard. It houses heart and vascular surgery, catheterization, angioplasty, intensive care and rehabilitation.
