Welcome Faculty!

East Carolina University is a doctoral university offering classes, meetings, and conferences in Second Life. ECU has been holding classes since 2007 in the virtual world realm.

The number of classes varies each semester, but we typically have 30 to 40 classes on-going in Second Life, plus four Early College Second Life Program classes.

Why use Second Life? How are other institutions using Second Life?

The parent company of Second Life, Linden Lab, has released the following brochure called "Second Life Education: A Virtual Learning Advantage". It highlights a number of reasons many faculty, both inside and outside East Carolina University, are using Second Life.
