As the newly established Office for Equity, Diversity and Community Relations at East Carolina University, we are excited about the opportunity to serve students, faculty, staff and the local and regional community. Over the course of the next three months our new office will undergo an internal, preliminary review period to determine our organizational capacity, the scope of existing programs, projects and initiatives and strategies for maximizing efficiency and synergy across each functional area within this new consolidated configuration. The purpose of this preliminary review period is not to diminish current momentum but rather to strategically position the newly configured office for greater collective impact.

A considerable portion of the existing primary programs and services will continue while several will be revamped and retooled. Additionally, new efforts which address each of the specific constituencies served by each respective area will be introduced and opportunities for greater synergies and collaborative efficiencies will be explored and implemented.

During this time of preliminary review and assessment, please feel free to share with me how this office will be most helpful to your respective units and to the University. Here's to an inclusive and progressive future for ECU. I look forward to working with  you.
