MLK Day of Service

This year ECU is honoring Dr. King's legacy by serving our local community on January 20th, 2014. We will volunteer together for three hours at a local community organization. The day begins with a kick off at 8:30 am where we will hear from ECU students and community member about what the MLK Day of Service means to them. Please join the MLK Day of Service portal on OrgSync in order to participate. Service opportunities will be posted soon, so stay tuned!

Hill Harper to Deliver Keynote Address at ECU's Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Lecture

Hill Harper will be the keynote speaker at ECU's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Lecture on January 21, 2014 at 7 p.m. in Wright Auditorium on ECU's campus. Harper is a philanthropist, award-winning actor and the best-selling author of several books. The title of his speech is "Manifest Your Destiny." The event is sponsored by the Office for Equity and Diversity, the Ledonia Wright Cultural Center, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the Student Activities Board in honor of MLK Day, which is Monday, January 20. The event is free and open to the public; however, tickets must be requested from the ECU Central Ticket Office. Call 252-328-6804 for more information.

ECU Wins Diversity Award, 2nd Year in a Row

For the second year in a row, East Carolina University was awarded the 'Higher Education Excellence in Diversity' (HEED) Award by INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. The HEED Award recognizes colleges and universities around the United States that display an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion. This year only 56 colleges and universities were recipients of the award. ECU was one of two recipients in North Carolina. 

New Title IX website

Title IX of the Education Amendements of 1972 prohibits sexual harassment, sexual misconduct and/or discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs or activities which receive Federal financial assistance. Title IX applies to all education programs, activities and services at East Carolina University.
