Master of Arts in Education - Reading Education (MAED-READ)
The 39-semester hour Master of Arts in Reading Education degree program may be completed on a part-time or full-time basis and all courses are available online. MAEd-READ students earn a K-12 reading specialist license as they explore current reading research, assessment/diagnosis of reading difficulties, management/oversight of reading/literacy programs, and develop action research projects related to an area of personal interest. Nine hours of study are selected by MAEd-READ students from a variety of reading/literacy related areas including library science, gifted education, digital literacy/technology integration, and teaching English as a second language. An initial teaching license is required to apply, and some individuals may need to take prerequisite courses in reading methods in order to be accepted to the program.
