Johnson worked as a singer/songwriter from 1986 to 1997, playing clubs across the US and writing music for MCA Music Publishing. In 1998, he opened a home-based graphic design firm. Since January 2003 he has worked for Tennessee Farmers Cooperative as a communications specialist--he writes, photographs, edits, and designs for the Communications Department and works as an assistant editor for several publications, including the Tennessee Cooperator. He is married to Holly Soderquist, and they have two children, Sam and Ava.

Gurley lives in Goldsboro, NC, where she works at the Goldsboro News-Argus and teaches part-time at Wayne Community College.  She was married in January '97.

Stancil lives in Elizabeth City NC and teaches ninth grade English at Pasquotank County High School.

Evans is currently employed by the Department of Homeland Defense.

Trask double-majored in History and English at ECU, then went on to earn her MFA in creative writing from Southwest Texas State University. She currently lives in Austin TX, where she works as a web master.

Gauland is the Creative Advertising Copywriter at Circuit City in Richmond, VA.

Silvoy received his MA in English (Children's Literature) from UNC Charlotte in May 2002. While pursuing the degree, he studied Shakespearean theater and text in Stratford upon Avon and appeared as an extra in two feature films and a national commercial. He is currently a part-time faculty member of the English Department, the Writing Resources Center, and the Athletic Academic Support Services at UNCC, and he works part-time for the Children's Theatre of Charlotte.

Freeman is an Editor for Mahogany cards, the African-American greeting card line produced by Hallmark Cards, Inc., Kansas City, MO.

LaRaia is finishing an M.F.A. in creative writing at George Mason University. He had two poems and a short story published last year, and in December he married Felicia Ann Grammas.

Roberts is an art director for BBDO West in San Francisco.

Brown has taught tenth grade English at Greenville's JH Rose High School, and (since 2000) English and Journalism at West Craven High School. Currently she is also back at ECU pursuing an MA in creative writing.

Atkins is a doctoral student in the Rhetoric/Composition program at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He is co-designer of English Department Website there, and he manages faculty and student technology workshops on electronic portfolios, FirstClass Software, webpage design and pedagogy.

Daniel received her MA in English Rhetoric and Composition from UNC-Charlotte in May 2000. She lives in Jacksonville, FL, and is currently employeed by Jacksonville University as Learnet and Writing Center Director.

Staton-Taiwo earned her BS in secondary English education and worked as a high school English teacher for two years before returning to ECU to earn her MA in technical writing; she worked as a technical writer from 1994-2001. In 2001, she received a Ph.D. in African American literature from Howard University. She currently lives in York PA with her husband, Olusegun. She is an assistant professor of English at Penn State York and helps with Orogol Associates, Inc. (www.orogol.com), incorporated in Pennsylvania and specializing in technical/business/professional writing, translating and interpreting services, and independent marketing.).

Burns lives in Springfield, VA, and is employed by DynCorp I&ET as the Technical Writer for all Federal Communications Commission  projects.  He documents software applications that DynCorp is developing for the FCC.

Maginnes is the author of two collections of poetry: The Light In Our Houses and Taking Up Our Daily Tools. His work has been nominated for a National Book Award and has won botht he Lena Miles Wever-Todd award and the NC Poetry Council's Oscar Arnold Young Award for best collection of 1997 by a North Carolina poet. He teaches English at Wake Technical Community College, in Raleigh.

Beeth and husband Clanton Beeth announce the birth of their son Clanton Donald Beeth, Jr (CJ).

Nixon is currently an 8th grade Language Arts teacher in Columbia, NC. She was selected as one of six subjects in a Department of Public Instruction video about teachers who successfully incorporated technology into the classroom/curriculum.

Clarke-Parker teaches 10th grade English and journalism at Reid Ross Classical High School in Fayetteville, NC.

Etheridge is the Director of Advising & Retention at Barton College in Wilson, her undergraduate alma mater. Previous jobs include Marketing Coordinator at Purolator Air Filtration in Kenly and composition instructor at Wilson Technical Community College. She is a member of the Wilson Jaycees and resides in Wilson.

Franchina is the Senior Marketing Writer at Datastream, a software company in Greenville, SC. Her primary responsibilities include writing and editing content for brochures, white papers, and presentations and updating the corporate Web site. Previously, she worked in Datastream's Documentation department as a Technical Communicator. She married Nicholas Franchina in June 2002.

 

Rupp lives in Los Angeles and works for the television show "The Movie Break," which airs on TBS. She is currently applying to California State University, Northridge to earn an MBA.

Angell is a Senior Technical Writer at Datastream Systems, a software company in Greenville, SC. Her primary responsibilities include writing and editing content for user documentation and evaluating the software for usability. An active member of the Carolina Foothills Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication, she is the 2003-2004 chapter president. She married Paul Angell in October 2002.

Michie currently lives in Charlotte, NC, and works for First Union Corporation as the Training Manager and Vice President for First Union Direct.

Bourquin (neé Siegelman) is working as a Documentation Manager for JP Morgan Chase in Jacksonville, FL. Her primary responsibilities include writing and editing project management documents, user documentation, and presentations. She also teaches English Composition at St Johns River Community College in Orange Park, FL.
