Course Work

The MA in English with a concentration in literature requires 30 semester hours of course work, including at least 15 hours at the 6000 level and a thesis. 

Required Courses

• ENGL 7005 Bibliography and Methods 
• One composition or linguistics course

Literature Core (Select five) 15 s.h.

• Courses selected from the full range of literature courses offered within the English department 
• At least two courses must be literature seminars 

• Electives may be in English or may be graduate courses taken as a minor in another department 

Other Requirements

Candidates must pass a comprehensive exam and demonstrate a reading knowledge of a foreign language.
