Christy Baker joined the ECU faculty in 2000. Her research interests include the integration of musical rhythms in fiction, a technique she explored stylistically in her recently-completed first novel, When the Owls Cry. Her work has appeared in such publications as North Carolina Literary Review, Pitkin Critical Arts Review, and Mainstreet Rag. When not plotting her next escape to England, she enjoys writing fiction and contemplating creative ways to interject the topics "humanistic, moralistic, and realistic questions concerning preexisting conditions regarding direct deposit logistics" and "Jimmy Page" into everyday conversation.
