Lida Cope's research interests include child bilingualism, language contact and first language attrition, community language loss, language and ethnic identity, and cross-cultural communication. She has published on child first language attrition and on the issues of language, culture and identity in Czech Moravian communities in Texas. Her articles have appeared in Pragmatics, Kosmas, Southwest Journal of Linguistics, Slavic and East European Journal, Southern Journal of Linguistics, and in conference proceedings. Her current research project examines language use and development in a K-3 dual language immersion program.
