A native of Senegal, Marame Gueye joined the ECU English faculty in 2007. She specializes in African and African Diaspora Literatures and is particularly interested in Oral Literature and constructions of gender. She is currently working on a book on how African women negotiate voice and space through verbal art. She is also completing an essay on soccer and immigration in Senegal. Prior to coming to ECU, Dr Gueye held a three year Andrew Mellon postdoctoral fellowship at Vassar College.
