Brent Henze's primary research area is the rhetoric of science, particularly the nineteenth-century biological and social sciences. Recent projects have examined the emergence of new reporting genres in British ethnological science, the scientific treatment of racial difference, and the formation of scientific institutions. He is currently examining how visual representations of humans were used in nineteenth-century scientific texts. His teaching interests include technical and professional writing, document design, situated learning, and writing in technical and scientific disciplines. He currently serves as internship coordinator for the technical and professional communication program.
