Joseph Horst joined the English faculty as a lecturer in the Spring of 2006. His Masters thesis, a two-act play entitled Enemies, was a semi-finalist in the 2006 O'Neill Theater's Playwrights Conference, placing in the top 100 of almost 800 submissions that year. Enemies also won 7th place in the Writer's Digest 76th Annual Writing Competition in 2007 and has been sent out to numerous professional theatre companies for consideration. During his undergraduate time at ECU, Joe worked extensively with The East Carolinian and won awards for Best News Story in 1992 and the Grand Prize Print PSA in 1994 from the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention for an alcohol awareness campaign.
