Sean Memolo joined the faculty of the English Department in 2004. His career began as a communications specialist in the U.S. Army, where he spent much time consuming the works of Confucius and Lao Tzu atop the peaceful desert mountains of Fort Irwin, California. Upon receipt of an honorable discharge, Memolo studied Western political theory and the Supreme Court. He was the recipient of the Carlton-Troutman Scholarship in 1998, the same year he was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi. Memolo is currently seeking a publisher for his masters thesis, Pray You Never Learn to Fly: An Argument for the Inclusion of Alan Moore's Miracleman in the Revisionist Superhero Canon, and is also preparing an article on how revisionist superhero comics anticipated the Bush Adminstration's Doctrine of Preemption.
