Donald Palumbo is series co-advisor to McFarland Publishers' "Critical Explorations in Science Fiction and Fantasy" series, Film Area Chair for the Popular Culture Association, Editorial Advisory Board member for The Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts and The Journal of Popular Culture, and a Past President of the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts. He has published four books and over sixty articles on science fiction and fantasy literature, existential literature and philosophy, American comic books, and film. These include Chaos Theory, Asimov's Foundations and Robots, and Herbert's Dune: The Fractal Aesthetic of Epic Science Fiction; Erotic Universe: Sexuality and Fantastic Literature; Eros in the Mind's Eye: Sexuality and the Fantastic in Art and Film; and Spectrum of the Fantastic. He is currently writing The Monomyth in American Science Fiction. He serves as the faculty advisor to ECU SAGA (School of Anything Goes Anime), the ECU student anime club.
