Lorraine Hale Robinson joined the English faculty in 1990 after teaching at Craven Community College and North Carolina Wesleyan College. She has taught a variety of courses, and has supervised a range of independent studies from "Female Protagonists as Decision Makers" to an exploration of how poetry in America diverges from traditional Western models. Robinson has studied at the Goethe Institut in Schwaebisch Hall, Germany, and is also a professional musician. She is the Director of the East Carolina Center for the Liberal Arts, serves as Senior Associate Editor of the North Carolina Literary Review, and has won national awards for her creation and editing of the newsletter for the ECU Chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
