English AnnexGoodbye to the English Annex, which was built in 1938 as a garage for only $3,000. In 1962 the building was remodeled for a laundry distribution and office center, and in 1979 it became the campus police and traffic office. The building was renamed the English Annex in 1981 and served as office space for faculty and graduate assistants for twenty years. During the 1980s, when the English Department was housed in Austin, the Annex was affectionately known as "Austin City Limits," or sometimes simply, "The Limits." The 63 year-old structure is currently being razed for campus building expansion.
