From the Editor You may have noticed that as we go about our business, it is hardly business as usual. The events of September 11th have altered the rhythm and meter of how we sound and what we say. A lucky few have been able to go on unhindered at a steady, mindful pace, but many university students have become wary of an uncertain future and, as a consequence, look to their studies and what they are reading in a different way. For them, there seems to be a newly discovered relevancy between subject matter and life's realities. At no other time in my teaching career have I been more careful to project a necessary calm and measured response to students' questions and needs. In spite of the incredible energy this requires (and in spite of budget uncertainties piled even higher), I find it remarkable that the hard work of the faculty continues unfazed and with resolve.
