Miscellany

Several interesting films have been playing recently in the area. They include: Black Hawk Down, A Beautiful Mind, and The Royal Tenenbaums.  Click on the films to read graduate reviews by Brandon Evans and Celeste Pottier.

On January 30, 2002, poet Diana Garcia read her work as part of the Writers Reading Series of Eastern North Carolina at the Shepard Memorial Library and the Greenville Museum of Art. For a review, click here.

In May 2001, Snow L. and B. W. C. Roberts of Durham donated a collection of fiction set wholly or partially in North Carolina to Joyner Library.  The collection dates from 1830 to present and includes works by James Boyd, Charles Waddell Chesnutt, and Elizabeth Gray Vining.  For a more complete description of the gift, click here.
