Awards & Appointments

Henze Brent Henze has been awarded the CCCC Outstanding Dissertation Award in Technical Communication.  The award will be presented at the March meeting of the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing, which is held in conjunction with the annual convention of the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC).

Retta Matagiese, Kristi Southern, and Jennifer Sisk were initiated into the English honors fraternity, Sigma Tau Delta, in December.

Elizabeth Vaughn has written a successful matching grant for $4,930 from Igniting Ministry, Nashville, TN, to produce television commercials during the 2003 Lenten season (April 6-19) for St. James United Methodist Church, Greenville, NC.

Laureen Tedesco has been appointed the chair of the Membership Committee for the Children's Literature Association.  Tedesco has been on the committee since 2000, but now as chair she will coordinate a new members' reception at the annual conference in June, oversee a panel at the conference on "Shaping an Academic Career in Children's Literature," and lead the committee in developing ideas for retaining and attracting membership.
