Bryan
Oesterreich has been named the new editor for "Life on the Pamlico,"
a publication produced by Beaufort Community College in Washington, NC.
According to Oesterreich, "The purpose of the publication is to preserve
oral histories of the residents of eastern North Carolina and help students
hone their creative nonfiction writing skills. The region is rich with
family farming, commercial fishing, and logging. Many people in the area
can trace their ancestry back to the first colonial settlers." Please

membership consists of directors and instructors in many of Technical,

Resa
Crane Bizzaro has been chosen to be a member of the 2007 CCCC Tribal
College Faculty Fellowship Selection Committee. Each year, the Conference
on College Composition and Communication offers two grants of $750 to faculty
members currently working at tribally controlled colleges to attend CCCC.
According to Bizzaro, "Typically, these colleges are on or near reservations,
and their population is almost 100% Native American. These schools
are oftentimes very poor; as a result, there is no money for faculty to
attend professional conferences. That's why the fellowships were
established to offset the cost of attending CCCC if you're on a panel.
We also thought we could encourage greater participation among members
and teachers of historically underrepresented groups at CCCC." Bizzaro
also served on the Tribal College Initiative Committee that developed the
award in 2003-04.
