Celebrate ECU Family Weekend 2012 with a winning combination of Pirate football, great food and entertainment, and lots of family FUN! This time-honored ECU tradition of celebrating our Pirate Parents and Families is one you do not want to miss! So, pack up your purple and gold and set your GPS for Pirate Country!
Begin your weekend on Friday night at our newest event, the Family & Faculty Jazz Mixer.The fabulous ECU Jazz Ensemble will perform as you get the opportunity to mix and mingle with university administrators, faculty and staff, along with ECU Parents Council members and special guest, Greenville Mayor and ECU Alum, Allen Thomas. Enjoy mouth-watering appetizers created by our own Chef Paul as you catch up on all things ECU!
An exciting addition to the Family Weekend schedule of events this year is the Family Tailgate at the North Recreation Complex Lake where you can enjoy 18 holes of disc golf, sand volleyball, horseshoes, kayaking and canoeing on the lake, or just relaxing on the beach, among other family-friendly activities. We’ll even have bouncy houses for the younger kids! Be prepared to “Get down with DJ Sound” providing live music on the beach. With over 70 years of music to choose from, every member of your family is guaranteed to shake a leg and jump in for a line-dance or two!! We’ll even be visited by the ECU Cheerleaders and Pee-Dee the Pirate himself as they lead us in a Purple/Gold Pep Rally of epic proportions! Gates open at 1pm and a good ole’ Southern fried chicken buffet with all the fixin’s’ will be served from 3pm-6pm. From there, no need to get back in the car, fight traffic, and search endlessly for parking near the stadium. Ride to the game in stress-free comfort on one of the shuttles provided to chauffeur you and your family from the North Rec. Complex to the big game in style! Kick-off for the ECU v UTEP game has been set for 7pm.
Other fun events, planned for you and your family, include Freeboot Friday in Uptown Greenville, an outdoor Drive-In Movie Night showing the hit movie, Rock of Ages, live theater performances of the 1981 Pulitzer Prize winning play Crimes of the Heart, Free Billiards and Bowling, Greek activities, the ALANA Academic Recognition Ceremony, Departmental Open Houses, Sunday Brunch, and SO MUCH MORE!
