ENGL 1100 and ENGL 1200 Workshops The First-Year Writing
Studio provides support for ENGL 1100 and ENGL 1200 through a series of
workshops on various aspects of the writing process. Workshops are "mini-lessons"
which consultants present to individual students, groups of students,
or to an entire class section if requested by the instructor. Workshops commonly requested by ENGL 1100 instructors include those which focus on helping students understand the writing process, while ENGL 1200 instructors typically request workshops that are designed to help students learn the skills involved in research writing. Each workshop provides a discussion of specific writing principle(s) as well as exercises which help reinforce the concept(s) covered. For each workshop, we have included in our web page two options 1) a document in Microsoft Word format for students and instructors who would like to print a hard copy and 2) a Powerpoint version for instructors and consultants who wish to guide students through the workshop while students follow along on lab computers.
