"Fulfillment of

The renewal

Phase II is

East Carolina University School of Medicine was notified in May that the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation had awarded full grant funding to the Phase II application of the ECU Generalist Physician Program. (GPP). This award represents recognition of the accomplishments at ECU during Phase I and the commitment of University Medical Center and external partners to support worthwhile initiatives beyond the Phase II funding cycle. The award also serves as evidence of the daily support of hundreds of people involved with GPP related activities including Medical faculty and administration, community preceptors and leaders, state agencies and many others. For those of us in GPP administration, it is humbling and heartwarming to know the Phase II award would not have been possible without their support!

Phase II activities included in the grant application were designed to build upon suceessful programs initiated during Phase I in four grant areas: premedical; undergraduate (medical school); graduate (residency); and practice support and entry.
