Pitt County Memorial Hospital has earned the Magnet nursing hospital designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, recognizing it as a health care environment with exceptional nursing care. Fewer than 2 percent of hospitals in the country achieve this designation. We participate in many national programs and are developing systems that will raise our level of care even higher.

Our nursing specialties
Pitt County Memorial Hospital has opportunities for all levels in many specialties.

Adult Medicine - This unit offers patient care services in medical intensive care and intermediate units, bone marrow transplant, and other general service units.
Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Services - This unit offers patient care services in surgical ICU and intermediate units, orthopedics and general surgery units.
Cardiac - This unit has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation's top 50 hospitals for cardiovascular services. The heart center is known for excellence in interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging and cardiac surgery. Our surgeons are pioneers in the development of robotic-assisted surgery.
Rehabilitation - Our regional center is CARF accredited with 75 rehab beds including services for spinal cord injury, pediatric rehab and traumatic brain injury.
Children's Hospital - Our 122-bed Children's Hospital admits 7,300 children each year and treats another 31,000 outpatients.
Women' Services - Our labor and delivery unit welcomes about 3,500 babies a year.
Emergency Services - A new trauma bay and the expanded Emergency Department at Pitt County Memorial Hospital has large treatment and waiting areas, rooftop helicopter landing and educational suites. The Emergency Department has 49,000 patients a year and is served by ground and air transport.
