CONGRATULATIONS! If you are interested in the long-term rewards of being a generalist physician and are looking for advanced, highly personalized opportunities, you've found the right place. The primary care residency programs hosted by the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and Pitt County Memorial Hospital are among the best in the country. Our doctors share a commitment to education and we have the technology and diverse patient volumes to assure residents of the experience they need for any medical setting. But what sets us apart is our mission. The ECU medical school was established with the express purpose of producing well-rounded primary care physicians. To that end, we have developed one of the nation's leading programs in community and rural medicine. The primary care faculty have a passion for teaching. Our strong partnerships with community physicians create abundant learning opportunities. Pitt County Memorial, our teaching hospital, is a 745-bed tertiary center that serves as the referral hub for a 29-county region. The surrounding medical campus has many clinics and programs, from pediatric to geriatric and acute care to robotic surgery. Our medical center is growing. A new health sciences complex is taking shape on the medical campus and construction will soon begin on a new research, education and outpatient institute, the Eastern Carolina Cardiovascular Institute. Greenville is a progressive city near the coast, with a charming mix of big-city flavors, cultural events and natural places that make it unique. |
