YOU'LL FIND GREAT BREADTH OF OPPORTUNITY at the Brody School of Medicine, made possible by the outstanding resources associated with ECU and its teaching hospital, Pitt County Memorial. This 745-bed tertiary care center is equipped with up-to-the minute technology and serves as the referral site for nearly one-third of the state. The patient volumes and mix of conditions and situations create opportunities for initiative that lead to a dynamic residency experience. Residents from across the state and nation have chosen us for our commitment to compassion, leadership and research. Our physicians are respected by students and are distinguished among their peers. They have published widely and contributed to significant medical discoveries. Most important, we believe in supporting our residents and their families throughout their career here. Residents are esteemed and enjoy a collegial atmosphere. We nurture intellectual growth with correlated learning through electives, research and presentation possibilities. Our Department of Medical Humanities, one of the first of its kind, provides invaluable insight for complex medical decisions. Our programs in family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics and the combined residencies in medicine/pediatrics and medicine/psychiatry prepare residents for a satisfying, successful future in primary care.
