GERMAN IN MOTION: Outreach Activities in the Community

The ECU German program welcomes opportunities to offer Pitt County schools age-appropriate seminars on German-speaking countries and cultures. While the scope and content of our lessons would depend on the individual teacher’s needs, we could envision offering instruction on a host of K-12 topics.

For example, we could provide lessons introducing students to the German language or highlighting differences between life in Europe and here in the U. S. We could also deliver seminars on

  • German history (The Berlin Wall, The Holocaust);
  • German literature (Goethe, Kafka, the fairy tale genre);
  • German film;
  • or even on German cultural and business influences in the United States.

If you are a Pitt County educator, we would love to discuss possible collaborative opportunities with you or representatives from your school. Our contact information is provided below for your convenience, and more information about the ECU German program is available on this website.

The photos below are from our recent participation in The Oakwood School's International Festival (February 2009). Other presentations have been made at Stokes Elementary and Wintergreen Elementary. We look forward to hearing from you and wish you in the meantime "Alles Gute!"
