Students who have no more than 10 s.h. of foundations curriculum requirements remaining at the end of the semester, have a 2.0 GPA or higher both overall and in history courses, and have successfully completed at least 3 s.h. of a foreign language are invited to declare a major in History. Students should bring their file to the History Department office and make an appointment with one of the department’s undergraduate advisors.
Both the BA in History and the BS in Public History require the completion of a four-semester language sequence.
The History Department offers two undergraduate degrees as well as the associated minors. The Bachelor of Arts in History is a liberal arts program preparing students for advanced study (MA or PhD) in the field of history or to enter the work force upon graduation. The Bachelor of Science in Public History prepares students for advanced study (MA or PhD) or to enter the work force in the field of public history upon graduation.
