Facilities

The Mamie Jenkins Building is the administrative home of the Honors College at East Carolina University.   The building is one of the six original structures at East Carolina University and was extensively renovated in 2010-2011 to facilitate the relocation of the Honors College.  Mamie Jenkins Building is located in the central area of campus and is near the Advising Center, Financial Aid office, Joyner Library, Student Health Center, Mendenhall Student Center and Student Recreation Center.  Several residence halls and classroom buildings are also located nearby.

The mission of the Mamie Jenkins Building is to support the academic and co-curricular activities of the Honors College.  The building includes a seminar/conference room (room #104) that is used for Honors College seminars and meetings and which is sometimes available for use by other campus units.  Room reservation requests for this space will be considered using the following priority system:

1. Academic classes taught within the Honors College

2. Honors College academic support and enrichment programs

3. Honors College-sponsored activities or events

4. Honors College meetings

5. Meetings sponsored by ECU-affiliated units

Hours of Operation

The Mamie Jenkins Building is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  During the fall and spring semesters, the Mamie Jenkins Building is kept open into the evening on a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 5:00 - 10:00 p.m. to provide for access to Honors students.  The facility is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Scheduling and Reservations

Reservations will be granted on a space-available basis based on the priorities outlined above. One-time events and activities requests must be received at least five business days prior to the date of the activity.

The room reservation request form is available in the Honors College main office, 101 Mamie Jenkins Building or at the link below.  Completed requests should be returned to Ms. Sue Chapman, 105 Mamie Jenkins Building, 252-328-6373 or faxed to her attention at 252-328-0474.  Reservations are not confirmed until a copy of the room reservation request form has been approved and returned to you.

No reservations will be confirmed until such time that Honors College courses have been reserved in the space for the upcoming academic semester.  This typically occurs in mid-October (for spring) and mid-March (for fall).  Reservation requests may be submitted prior to these dates but confirmations will not be provided until such time that all courses are loaded into the system.
