The Citizens’ Monitoring
Network was invited to attend the “Second
Annual Family Science Night” at Oakwood School,
which is an independent school
that specializes in grades K-10. This
was the first time that we were invited to attend;
the previous year brought in
more than 250 participants! The focus
for the evening was to promote science through
fun events such as hands-on
experiments and live animal handling. We
were there to demonstrate water quality
techniques and answer any questions the
students and their families may had. Other
education groups in attendance
were from the North Carolina Science Museum and
the Pitt Soil and Water Conservation District.
