"I heard about the Citizens' Water Quality Monitoring program at a N.C. Cooperative
Extension Service class on Water Stewardship. I am retired and I enjoy hanging out a lot on
the Perquimans River and "dockwatching" the birds, seeing the fish jump, and looking at the different
changes in the water flow. This program is a good way to formalize observations and provide
greater detail. Hopefully the data gathered will establish normal patterns and provide information
to keep the river and estuary healthy. It is a beautiful area." - Jane Barckholtz
