Innovators of East Carolina University

Some of ECU’s leading innovators gather at the Export Tobacco Leaf Factory in Greenville’s warehouse district. Built in 1914, the warehouse—known as the Haynie Building—is in the heart of a seven-block area designated as ECU’s new East Carolina Research and Innovation Campus.

A Transformation Is Happening

This long-dormant tobacco warehouse once embodied the economic importance of a regional agricultural commodity. Now it has a different purpose as the cornerstone of East Carolina University’s new millennial campus.

Advancing our commitment to transform our state and our world, the East Carolina Research and Innovation Campus will function as an incubator for commerce and industry. A place where partnerships with the private sector and others will bring more discoveries to market. A place where entrepreneurial spirit will intersect with research, education, and service while attracting and retaining expert talent and vital investment.

Innovations are born—solutions that revolutionize, meet challenges, enhance lives, heal, and contribute to economic and community development in our state and far beyond.
