Technology-Enhanced Classrooms

ECU has over 400 enhanced classrooms. Whether you need a classroom, conference room or an auditorium, a variety of technologies can be found in any of these locations.

To find a classroom appropriate for your need, search the Google Classroom Map or the Classroom Technologies Database.

Classroom Technologies

We have standardized the classroom search to include this equipment:

  • Microphone for Lecture Capture
    Microphone used for recording audio
  • Microphone for Speech Reinforcement
Large conference rooms require speech reinforcement so people at all locations can adequately hear each other.
  • Annotation Device
A device with a touchscreen that allows you to type or draw on it – such as a Smartboard or Touchscreen Monitor
  • Document Camera
Real-time image capture devices for displaying an object to an audience. It allows you to also zoom in and out.
  • DVD/VCR
DVD stands for Digital Video Disc or Digital Versatile Disc – and VCR stands for Videocassette recorder – two types of media that can be played in a classroom
  • Laptop Connection (bring your own)
If you bring your own laptop into a smart classroom, there will be a cable that can be used to project the laptop’s image to the projector.
  • Flatscreen/Projector
Flat panel display used for projection
  • Lecture Capture
Hardware is used to capture the lecturer's voice along with the video of the lecturer, and the output of the projector.
  • Videoconferencing
Two or more locations that interact via two-way video and audio transmissions simultaneously such as a polycom.
  • Computer in the Room
A windows computer that is located in the lectern.
