Welcome to the
Videoconferencing Support Center
Videoconferencing includes a set of interactive telecommunication technologies which allow two or more locations to interact via two-way video and audio transmissions simultaneously. ECU supported Videoconferencing technologies include H.323 conferencing, Microsoft Lync, and Centra. Videoconferencing technologies can be used to enhance your courses in many ways. Here are some examples of how videoconferencing can be used to benefit you both in and out of the classroom:
- Guest lectures from anywhere in the world
- Lecture exchanges between two instructors at different Universities
- Joint courses taught alongside instructors in classrooms anywhere in the world
- Collaboration with business professionals
- Research collaboration
- Dissertation defense
- Office hours
- Advising
- Meetings
- Training
If you are unfamiliar with videoconferencing technology, we invite you to read through the information found in the Glossary.
If you would like to attend one of our Training courses, log into SharePoint at: http://training.ecu.edu to view the ECU training calendar. Once you locate the "Enhancing your Classroom with Videoconferencing" course, click on it and follow the prompts to enroll. If we are between trainings or the scheduled trainings do not work for you, feel free to contact us and someone would be happy to come meet with you one-on-one.
If you already have H.323 videoconferencing equipment and want to schedule a videoconference with more than two participant sites, you can request the use of one of our videoconferencing bridges which will enable you to link with up to 45 sites at a time.
