Project Principals

Paul Kauffmann, PhD

Chair, Department of Engineering

Paul Kauffmann received a BS in electrical engineering and MENG in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus. His industrial career with Philip Morris USA included positions as project engineer, plant manager, and engineering director. He is a registered professional engineer and is currently professor and chair of the Department of Engineering at East Carolina University. His research interests include technology decision analysis, engineering management, and product development decision methods.

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

Dana Espinosa, PhD

Coordinator, Alternative Licensure in Physical Education

Department of Exercise and Sport Science

 Dana Espinosa received a BS in secondary teaching from Auburn University in Montgomery. Her Master of Education is in school administration from Nicholl's State University and Ph.D. is from Texas Woman's University in educational and athletic administration. She holds current teacher licensure in North Carolina and Texas. She is a licensed school superintendent and principal. Her public school experience includes school administration and teaching k-12 physical education, health and first aid. Her university experience includes administration and teaching biomechanics, health and physical education methods courses. Her research interests are upper body strength in children and using pedagogical methods in biomechanics to enhance learning.

 

 

 

 

 

 

   
Cathy W. Hall, PhD

Professor, Department of Psychology

Cathy W. Hall received her BA degree in psychology from Emory University and a Ph.D. in from University of Georgia.  Her experience includes working as a school psychologist for Oconee County Schools, and serving in a split appointment position at Fort Hays State University as director of the school psychology program and psychologist in Kelly Psychological Service Center.  She is currently a professor in the Department of Psychology at East Carolina University.  Her research interest include resiliency in relation to adjustment and metacognition.   

 

 

 

   
Gail Ratcliff, PhD

Keith Williamson, PhD

Keith Williamson is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Engineering & Technology at Virginia State University. He received the Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and the B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell University. Dr. Williamson served as the Principal Investigator for the Graduate Students in K12 (GK12) project at Old Dominion University. In addition to research involving University/K12 partnerships, his other research interests involve thermomechanical processing using Friction Stir Welding. He has received numerous awards for teaching and research including two-time selection as the Most Inspiring Faculty and a visionary award from the Cooperating Hampton Roads Organizations for Minorities in Engineering.

 

 

 

 

 

   
Virginia Carraway, MA
