Wade Dudley's publications include two books, Splintering the Wooden Wall: The British Blockade of the United States, 1812-1815 (Naval Institute) and Drake: For God, Queen, and Plunder! (Brassey's). Splintering the Wooden Wall received the John Lyman Book Award from NASOH for best book in United States Maritime History in 2002. In addition to history, Professor Dudley also writes fictional short stories (alternative history). A specialist in naval history and North Carolina history, Professor Dudley has taught all survey courses (HIST 1030, 1031, 1050, 1051), and regularly offers HIST 3000, History: Its Nature and Method; HIST 3215, American Revolution and Federalist Era; HIST 3100, North Carolina History; HIST 5525, Sea Power; and HIST 5135, Problems in North Carolina History.
