ECU gets back to normal after overnight storms

ECU's campus returned to normal quickly Thursday, officials report, after an unusual succession of overnight thunderstorms with torrential rains flooded low-lying areas in Greenville, as well as on and near campus. Among areas hardest hit were parking lots near College Hill and those at Minges Coliseum, off Ficklen Drive according to Bill Koch, associate vice chancellor for environmental health and public safety.
An estimated eight state vehicles and one personal vehicle parked in College Hill lots that do not routinely flood were caught in the water. Alternate locations for ECU Transit bus stops in those areas were set up.
Koch said the campus experienced no widespread damage or disruptions and credited law enforcement and parking and transportation workers for their overnight work throughout the storms.
