Awards, memorials highlight 2011 Founders Day
East Carolina University celebrated its 104th anniversary April 26, marking the date on which the North Carolina General Assembly formally approved the establishment of the East Carolina Teachers Training School. Traditional celebrations included services to acknowledge and honor accomplishments within the ECU community. Faculty and staff awards recognized excellence in teaching, research and service. Acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by those who served their country in the military came through rededication of the university's Victory Bell, along with dedication of a new Freedom Wall and Memorial Walk.
Highlights of the celebrations included:
