(Oct. 12, 2006)
An art show and sale on Oct. 26 will benefit nursing scholarships and research at East Carolina University.
The art show and sale will be open to the public from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Rock Springs Equestrian Center. The event is being held in conjunction with the fall banquet of Beta Nu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nursing.
The theme is "Come Hang With Us" and will feature a clothesline art show and sale with 20 percent of the proceeds to support nursing scholarships and research. Greenville Brushstrokes President Lou Everett, an artist and professor in the ECU School of Nursing, and Janet Dixon, an award-winning artist and vice president of Greenville Brushstrokes, are coordinating the original art for the event. For more information or to donate art items, contact Everett at 744-6431 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Karen Krupa, assistant professor and director of undergraduate student services in the ECU School of Nursing, serves as Beta Nu chapter president. The Beta Nu banquet will feature a silent art auction, buffet dinner and program with keynote speaker, Dr. Carol Picard, president of Sigma Theta Tau International. Her lecture is titled "Energizing Nursing Practice: Keeping the Passion in Compassion." The dinner is for Sigma Theta Tau Beta Nu members only. Deadline for registration for the fall banquet is Oct. 20. Cost is $25. Nursing students may attend the 8 p.m. program free of charge but pre-registration is required for seating.
