Wetherington named interim attorney
(Mar. 3, 2008)
Kitty H. Wetherington, associate university attorney at East Carolina University, has been named interim university attorney, effective Saturday (March 5).
Chancellor Steve Ballard, announcing the appointment, said, "Kitty Wetherington is experienced in all areas of the university, including both the central campus and the Health Sciences Division. I am confident she will provide expert legal advice, and I appreciate her willingness to assume this major responsibility."
Ballard said he has not established a schedule for filling the university attorney's position. Ben Irons, who had served in that role since 1988, has been asked to leave.
Wetherington, a magna cum laude graduate of ECU, joined the university as an assistant attorney in 2000 and was promoted to associate attorney last year. She holds a law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was an associate in the firm of Young Moore and Henderson in Raleigh.
