ECU faculty honored for teaching, advising

Three East Carolina University faculty members were honored with alumni teaching awards at the annual Faculty Convocation on campus. Another four were recognized for superior advising.
Receiving $1,000 awards as Alumni Distinguished Professors for Teaching were Reid Claxton, assistant professor of Marketing; Chia-yu Li, professor and chair of chemistry; and John D. Rose, associated professor of medicine. The alumni awards are the oldest campus-wide teaching awards at the university.
Winners of the Outstanding Advisor Awards, which carry $500 stipends, were Karen Handcock, professor of health and human performance; Holly F. Mathews, associate professor of anthropology; Belinda T. Lee, assistant professor of nursing; and W. Scott Thomson, associate professor of Education.
